Dr. Horiba Entrepreneur Award recognizes overall excellence in entrepreneurial performance.
The award-winning entrepreneur will receive "500,000 Japanese Yen (Approx. 4,600
US$ value)" and a plaque. Horiba Award winner and the incubator that nominated the
winner as a client can gain significant recognition.
1. Purpose
To promote entrepreneurial activities by honoring an entrepreneur within an incubation
program at AABI member countries or territories who has developed an outstanding
innovation.
2. Eligibility
Eligible Individuals
who has developed an innovative product, service or process by utilizing the
business incubation program most efficiently
who is presently in an incubator located in an AABI member country / territory
who has already graduated from an incubator in an AABI member country / territory
no more than 5 years ago
Eligible Entity to Nominate an Applicant
An Incubator, located in AABI member country or territory, that is either affiliated
with AABI or recommended by an AABI Association Member
An incubator not already an AABI member may nominate an entrepreneur, if it
agrees to become an AABI member. (The nomination shall not be proceeded without
Application form for "Incubator Member" attached.)
Fresh nominations are rather preferable.
3. Criteria
Nominated incubators will be evaluated based on the following 5 points.
the innovation - product, service, process, activity
Expansion in business scale, other benefits of innovation
Benefit / special service provided by incubation program
4. Selection Process
AABI will form Horiba Entrepreneur Award Selection Committee, which consists of
judges with experience in incubation and preferably in entrepreneurship, who have
been nominated by Association Members.
Selection Process is as follows:
Step 1
An eligible incubator (see above 2.) nominates a candidate entrepreneur to Association
Member with relevant jurisdiction. (A Nomination has to be made through an incubator.
Not directly by an entrepreneur himself / herself.)
Step 2
Association Members accept nominations from their jurisdictional territory, and
decide the best one (out of all) based on their own internal selection process.
Then, each AABI Association Member may nominate one entrepreneur (to the Secretariat)
for the Horiba Award.
Step 3
AABI Secretariat accepts one nomination from each Association Member. All the nominations
received by Association Members will be forwarded to members of the selection committee.
Step 4
The Selection Committee will evaluate the nominations, and select one that best
meets the award criteria. In case none of the nominations is qualified, no award
shall be given for that year.
5. Nomination Form
Incubators interested in nominating an entrepreneur they support, or entrepreneurs
interested in being nominated, please consult a contact person of Association Member
in your economy and obtain the nomination form.
